EMANATA Submissions Are OPEN!
Do you have a young adult graphic novel you want to share with the world? Would you describe it as “compelling!” and “character-driven!”? Are you particularly good at balancing images and text without one overshadowing the other? Is your voice “fresh, strong, and under-represented”? And do you live in colonial Canada?
If you’re reading this and nodding along, we’ve got good news: Emanata, Conundrum Press’s YA graphic novel imprint, is open for submissions—and we want to see what you’ve been working on!
To apply, please submit:
- 30 complete pages of comics
- A synopsis and artist’s statement (documents, video files, and audio recordings accepted)
- A biography that includes any related work and/or education (documents, video files, and audio recordings accepted)
Please email a low-resolution PDF and cover letter to sal@conundrumpress.com.
Notes: Emanata is mandated to focus on under-represented voices. For this reason, the imprint prioritizes submissions from Deaf and Disabled, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+ creators.
We do not assign illustrators to graphic novel scripts—submissions must come from author-illustrators or pre-established author-illustrator teams. While we will consider international teams, at least 50% of the team must live in colonial Canada.
Submission Deadline: June 1, 2023
